Reverend Cynthia Brown is a native of Richmond, Virginia and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hughes, Jr. Our First Lady attended Richmond Public Schools during her early education years.
She is a member of Tower of Deliverance Church of God in Christ where she served very actively in many church activities such as Nursing, a choir member, Director of Public Relations for her church and an Evangelist.
From the union of Pastor and First Lady, God blessed them with two talented loving children: Chalitta, a mocking bird in her own right and Larry, Jr., the baddest drummer in the land.
She is the owner of “Church Girl Boutique” and the former creator and host of the cable television program “Church World”.
Like our Pastor, our First Lady has many achievements. In 1980, she successfully recorded her first album, entitled “Cynthia & Company’. She has toured with Evangelist Shirley Caesar in the summer as her singing nurse. Our First Lady has also traveled with the play “Resolutions”. She is the Director of all the choirs of Gravel Run.
First Lady organized the Nurses Unit of Gravel Run. She is involved with the promoting of Gospel Singing Programs and has made an album which was released in May 1988.
In 1987, under her leadership, the Women’s Department was formed. From that developed Women’s Week, and in 1996 the Women’s Department held its First Annual Baptist Women’s Convention of Central Virginia which became Incorporated in 1999.
On November 3, 1991, First Lady received her license as a Minister from Gravel Run Baptist Church and was ordained on October 26, 2003.
It was Mrs. Brown who believed enough in us and the power of FAITH and PRAYER that we could and DID pay off our church mortgage four years early.
In 2004, Mrs. Brown brought Evangelist Dorothy Norwood to bless us during Our Annual Baptist Women’s Convention and added four AWESOME additional Musicians to our Music Department. She also implemented “Ladies Night Out”.
This year, Ms. Brown implemented the First Annual Men’s Conference during our Annual Baptist Women’s Convention and arranged for Pastor Brown and our church services to be aired on “My TV” WRLH 209 on Sunday evenings at 6 pm.
